I never imagined myself as a jewelry designer. The kit my husband gave me as a Christmas gift in 2007 sat in my closet for two years before I even tried my hand at designing. So in the summer of 2009 with little else to do I pulled the kit off the shelf in the closet. Within the hour, I was hooked. My husband, Duane Collins, offered his pottery skills and kiln work to create some custom beads for me to use in my designs. The idea behind Firefly Myst Artisan Jewelry -came to life!
So today, I would like to reveal my newest creation using the bead soup my partner Diana Mains Welte sent me. I chose to use all of the metal coins with the copper and brass finish, the yellow crackle glass for a pendant, her four handmade glazed paper beads from her Lilyweeds Bead collection, the flowers and Preciosa Ornela and the 16 gauge handmade copper clasp. I added 2 of my husband's raku spacers http://www.etsy.com/shop/elementspottery, turquoise wax cotton cord in 1mm, and additional Preciosa Ornela rondelles for the necklace. For the earrings I used the brass earwires from Vintaj, metal coins, turquoise cotton wax cord, and the bright colored Preciosa Ornela beads.
I am doing a giveaway for a $25.00 gift certificate to my shop on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/fireflymyst. To be entered all you need to do is leave a comment. I will do the drawing on August 21st at 6:00pm est.
I am off to to the BSBP!!
